Bollards International helps Councils promote healthier lifestyles

Roydon, Norfolk: messages coming from government are that as a nation we are becoming increasingly unhealthy through obesity, and that the amount of carbon dioxide we are generating by over-use of the motor car, is advancing the rate at which the climate is changing.

Taking positive steps towards reducing the first can have an incidental but beneficial effect on the latter, and it comes as no surprise that cycling is being actively promoted as a healthier way of travelling.

Bollards International has been involved in a number of projects with Local Authorities in the UK, which have come to the conclusion that if residents are to be encouraged to use bicycles for work and pleasure, safe and convenient in-town cycle parking need to be readily available.  Lewisham Council in London is the latest to answer this need in the Blackheath ‘heritage’ area, with the installation of Bollards International’s latest ‘Blackheath’ stand.  Being 10mm thicker than the highly popular Sheffield model, its robustness makes it well suited to the busy environment of our capital city.

Bollards International’s Managing Director, Dr Barrie Colvin, comments, “All our cycle stands are manufactured in Trucast or Envirocast™ high impact polyurethane for durability and resistance to scuffing.  Coupled with a high quality, two part paint finish to provide additional protection, our cycle stands are playing a part in promoting our nation’s health and well-being, and importantly contributing towards reducing our carbon footprint.
